One of my Lewmar #7's decided to come apart, loosing the spiral circlip overboard. Lewmar no longer carries parts for this old-timer.
Checking on the internet I can come up with a ring that's almost a perfect match, but I'd have to buy 100 from the supplier.
Does anyone know of a retailer that specializes in this kind of snapring?
Lewmar Winch Circlips
These aren't marine-specific, but McMaster-Carr shows quite a variety of "retaining rings." Here's a link to the section:

Try Bam Miller at Oyster Bay Boat Shop.

I haven't used them yet, but I'm getting ready to send my winches to them for re-chroming. He's pretty familiar with Lewmar winches.

Thanks for the links, guys.
I managed to find exact replacements at Smalley Steel Ring Company. The good news was they had a local distributor who stocked them, and could supply them to a nearby bearing shop for re-sale.
Then the manager of a local marine store found a couple in her own personal spare parts bin, so now I have two new rings and a couple of spares!
I guess that puts a lid on the self-tailers for a while :-(
