Rudder grudgen attachment repair

Post by inprin »

Long story short, my rudder was wrenched in a lift sling incident at the top attachment point where the brass grudgen mounts to the wood of the rudder. the rudder post and heel are all fine. the rudder rotated to its stops and then kept going a few degrees more. I need to reset this but how is it attached? are there post coming off perpendicular that penetrate into the wood. Is it just an extension that curves down and is screwed in? The boat is a Taipan 28 that was made in HK in 1969. the wood is dry and looks to be undamaged. I need to grind off the glass but what will i find?
