10" Circ saw blade for G10/FRP

Post by Surveyor »

I am going to build a new companionway hatch and sea hood partially out of G10. To do this I am going to need to rip some lengths of 1-1/4" and 1" G10 bars down to 3/4". I am also making my backing plates out of G10 so the blade I end up with will be used heavily.

To save money by not finding out what works through trial and error I come to you ladies and gentlemen. Can someone recommend a 10" table saw blade that will cut G10 without ruining it or pose a safety hazard?

I have been looking for a carbide grit blade but I am coming up with nothing. I see many continuous diamond masonry blades but all say no to cutting laminate. I would love to find a blade like the ones we use in our grinders (forget the name).

Thanks in advance,

I use ordinary 10" carbide blades and destroy 'em in short order. I've since learned to use cutoff wheels in an angle grinder.

Here, I'm cutting McMaster Carr's 1/2" fiberglass rod lengthwise to make fiberglass keelbands for the Flying Dutchman.

That was too easy! I spent hours trying to find these. Thanks for the tips guys.

I will learn to search McMaster-Carr before asking questions one day!
