What bedding for hardware on varnished spars?

I am about to reattach the hardware to my varnished spruce boom. What goop do ya'll recommend to bed the hardware. I would normally use Sika 291 for hardware on fiberglass but that seems like it will have a bit too much adhesion on wood. I am interested in the opinions of others.

Butyl rubber tape or Dolfinite?

I used polysulfide when I put the hardware back on my sitka spruce masts. It seals, but stays forever flexible - is sandable and easily removeable/cuttable/trimmable.

Dolfinite. Virtually no adhesive property.

I relocated some of the hardware on my spruce boom a few years ago and used butyl tape. It seals very well, never hardens and won't destroy your boom should you need to remove the hardware.

I'd second the choices Dave and Galley Wench recommended (Dolfinite or butyl tape).

This is because I recently had the experience of removing Sikaflex (or a similar polysulphide) from my teak rub rails. The join to the hull came apart relatively easily, but the stuff was pretty hard to remove from the teak. I ended up using a chisel with a fair bit of weight behind it, so I think a softer, non-curing sealant would be a better choice.
