Dinghy Fuel Tank

Post by George ( C&C 40 ) »

Hi All,

I have a nasty old plastic 6 gallon fuel tank for my 10' 2" RIB powered by a Yamaha 9.9 2-stroke outboard. The fuel tank seeps a little around where the fuel line is ported into the plastic body of the tank and the fuel cap seems to have trouble staying tight. I'd like to get a new tank before I head up to Maine in either a 3 or 6 gallon size and was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations for a good dinghy fuel tank that won't leak. One that is designed so that the vent can be closed down to prevent any leaks during passagemaking would be great too. I'm open to any tank materials as well -- plastic, metal, fiberglass. Anything is fine so long as it is tough and works well.

Thanks,

George
