Bottom Paint for Primordial Soup

Post by Quetzalsailor »

We sail out of Swan Creek on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The water is shallow and warm, and without much tidal current.

I've used several copper-bearing paints, most recently West Marine's CPP+. It was terrible!

Does anybody sailing the Chesapeake know of something that works? At $250 for a mid-season haul and scrub, I can afford more than the $70, or so, per gallon I've been paying.

Here in the SW Chesapeake Bay the yard uses Micron Extra as the standard (i.e. unless someone requests something else). It reportedly works well.

That's what I use on Windrose. I've been very pleased with it. I am mid bay on the West River just south of Annapolis.
