Registration in Delaware ? taking ownwership of my new boat.

Post by krissteyn »

Searched - found nutting - How can I register my new boat in Delaware ?
Any Ideas out there , I have an address I use in Miami and possibly another in MD - but as I will be keeping the boat in USA waters , makes sense to register it there ...
Currently a documented boat - which as a non-us citizen , I cant use...

Many states register vessels with the state Wildlife and Fisheries Dept.

I was under the impression that Delaware had closed their loophole several years ago.

Kris,

Have you checked on the SSCA (Seven Seas Cruising Association) board? I don't follow it closely, but they've had several extensive threads about just this sort of thing: Cruisers living aboard and cruising, and how and where best to establish addresses, register the boat, etc.

Here's a link:

I'm pretty sure the Delaware registration craze is a thing of the past, but perhaps they still have lenient rules for residency.

Now if you want to incorporate your boat as a business, Delaware might be the answer.
