Hey all!!
I need to put another coat of bottom paint Andiamo.
She was hauled and touched up in June then spent the winter in the water in Virginia. Little baby barnacles have now come home to roost.
She has Woolsey Neptune Paint on her now. I have GOOGLED my fingers raw and can't find a Woolsey web site. Everything points back to Petit.
SO Petit either owns Woolsey or bought them?
I see I can still buy it from various sources.
Couple of questions....
Assuming I can get Woolsey Neptune I can haul, scrape, sand, wash and paint over what is on there without too much trouble. It is an ablative paint.
What is the current wisdom on props and shafts??
Anyone have any great sources for paint? I am finding it is around $120 a gallon. What do you think...2 gallons for a 35 foot full keel alberg? or am I dreaming....
On a more fun note....had her out in 10-15 with 20 knot gusts today. Saw 6.5 steady and peak of 7 when we caught a wave...What fun!!!
Bottom paint questions???

I have no idea about the Woolsey question, but can tell you one gallon of Bottomkote ACT (an ablative paint) covers an Alberg 30 bottom exactly.
So, you will not need 2 whole gallons, probably 3 gallons would do the boat twice.
I gave my boat 2 coats and a third coat on the "high friction" areas, meaning the waterline, leading edges, and rudder. I still have a little left and will likely be hitting the rudder again.
The Interlux people told me Bottomkote ACT would go over just about anything, just make sure you aren't applying it to loose paint. I sanded the bejesus out of mine to remove dead paint, and had to wear an unbearably hot protective coverall and gas mask to prevent death.
This site says it all: http://www.pyacht.net/cgi-local/SoftCar ... 1148224702
But you can find it cheaper using Froogle. I paid $96 a gallon I think.

Thanks george!
That helps.
I am trying to determine now if Neptune II will over coat the old Neptune (it is still available). Finding info on woolsey Paint is near impossible on line.
Neptune II is water based so would be WAY easier to deal with if it will over coat the old paint and lasts similiarly.
I got to see the other side of your boat....they moved it to the center row facing the opposite direction. Hope that doesn't complicate engine install as the stern is now out of the line of traffic.

Spoke with Petit. Woolsey neptune is no more.
They recommended Trinidad SR (of course it is vastly more expensive)...but in this case the labor to do it right and to haul it make it worth getting it right.
So June 8th she comes out for what I hope ends up being only a long weekend of fun with 80 grit and rollers!!!
