Which paint did you use on the cabin walls?

The paint I used on the cabin walls is from System Three. It's called Yacht Enamel, but I don't think it's available. It's either an old product or one that was not ever available. It was in a big box of S3 products that came with the boat. The previous owner was given the box of goodies by a S3 Rep who was visiting for the Wooden Boat Festival one year. I've not seen this product anywhere on-line or in any of the S3 literature. The color is Bainbridge White.

I've been neglecting work-work, but I hope to do some more painting today.

Cheers,
chuck.

It looks just like the original wall paint. Well done.

Perhaps you can help me with this. Yesterday I wet sanded a portion of the hull. My goal is to restore the original white hull as best as possible for this season. Even after polishing and waxing the hull after the wet sand, there is no shine or gloss at all. I know there is no clear coat to the original paint job but is there a way to add some shine or gloss without spraying it w/ a cear coat?

Thanks!

Dunno, I'm a seasoned rookie. You're probably better off asking that question to the general population over in the Q&A or Repair Techniques board.

Ah you missed the swearing and banging on things with whichever tool happens to be in my hand at the moment. It's easy to understand your confusion.

Any of you know how to de-step the mast? It looks like there is a vertical bolt? I watched some online videos with a horizontal bolt that allows for lowering as a pivot point. Any ideas? Thanks!

I've not run into any vertical bolt.

There is a horizontal bolt that the mast pivots back on. You have to catch the mast behind the boat though. It will eventually hit the companionway hatch cover. So you have to pull the pin before it does. We used three people. One at the mast step to pull the pin. One in the cockpit to catch the mast on its way down. And a third behind the boat with a pole that has a "wye" at the top. Also you must release the shrouds. I know on some small boats your can drop and step the mast without releasing the shrouds, but this config doesn't allow it.

I uploaded some photos of the Islander 21 I have. I attempted to put her on a trailer last night but the bunks were too high. I have to modify them. It has been a challenge but I am trying to save money. Any recommedations on anything about restoring her would be greately appreciated. Thanks!

Nope sorry I can't find any photos of the mast step. There is a shoe that fits into the base of the mast. The aft portion of that shoe has bolt holes in it.

being color blind doesn't help. LOL. My friend once sold me a pink snowboard. $150 bucks for the boat though.

What are you doing with the compartment in the aft cockpit floor? Thanks! Your painting looks great! I need to cover mine. Also, can you take a picture of the piece that holds the mast on with the bolt that the mast can pivot on? I dropped my mast yesterday and am going to add one. Thanks!

The aft compartment I'm leaving as-is for now. It's a fiberglass sheet, not sure how it's attached. I just painted over.

Here's the deck hardware for the mast step:

and this is the shoe that fits inside the mast:

Thanks. I am going to try to find one of those. My mast was just bolted directly onto the deck. And the bolts gave way when lowering it yesterday.

Thanks!

Haven't a clue. There aren't many of them so it's hard to get a comp.

I believe that the previous owner summited Everest this past week. That must be worth something.

Deck hardware almost done. I hope to splash on Friday or the weekend. We had to quit yesterday because we couldn't hear each other over the rain pounding on the canopy.
