Two yrs ago I got my schooner..
It sat unused for many yrs with a large hole in the cockpit from a missing compass along with seat scuppers with no pluming, Causing dry rot and termites. I tented the boat and cut it all out and rebuilt it. Finished with 5 coats of white gel-coat. You can see my Sabb "G" 10hp Diesel. I made a male mold a instrument box

I have a friend who had termites eating the cabinetry and bulkheads on his 29' sailboat that had been in dry storage for a few years in New Orleans area. He decided to have the termites company who does houses come out to tent and treat his boat. Then he did spot repairs of the damaged wood. His damage was not too extensive and had no other rot. It seems to have worked but I understand tearing it all out is probably best in your case.

The termites were not bad, but figured that tenting and gassing them wouldn't hurt. The cockpit was mostly damaged from fresh rain water getting in. Its just not good to let a boat sit unused/neglected. To be fair to the previous owner he was 80 and in poor heath.
At this point everything that leaked or could has been removed and glassed over. 6 deck prisms and 2 vents.
I do hope that this forum starts to get new life... as I'm quite sure it is a valuable resource.
