Thanks for posting the photos. That's a good idea to have the metal bracket to protect the throttle. I recall when I still had an inboard engine that my crew frequently knocked the throttle out of position when moving around the cockpit. Now maybe that gear shift could be upgraded but at least the massive bronze handle makes a good fish club or anti-pirate weapon. Also, looks like a previous owner capped the original fiberglass toe rail and taffrail with teak which is a nice touch.

That new owner is looking uber serious. I thought he would be happier. <grin>

I once read a story about some rich guy that took to driving expensive sports cars instead of riding in the back of limousines. He figured that the big black limos just were a traffic annoyance to other drivers and made them mad. If he drove a sexy sports car, they would have something good to look at. He figured, that since it was fun to drive the sports cars, he had a duty to appear happy when he drove them. So he made a point to smile at other drivers when he drove. Chances were they wish they were him, so he wanted to make sure they knew he was enjoying himself. ...and I'm sure this is probably 50% mis-remembered.

I've taken a bit of that point of view when I'm out in my boat. Making sure that I smile at others. I just figure they're thinking, "I wish I had bought a good looking boat like that."

2nd selfie I ever took in my life...was smiling on the inside :D By the way, you might like this. I was in Florida a month ago and saw what I believe is a Wanderer 30 temporarily aground by my place. Can you confirm?

Hi James, that metal guard on my particular boat is actually mentioned in the Improvement Bulletin section of the Albergsailboats.org National Triton Association from about 1980 or earlier. Just happened to stumble on it , thought was kind of cool, and glad you noticed it. I just wonder how long before I rip the A4 out of it, however. It currently runs well and has a history of good maintenance, but still not sure I trust it. I understand the simplicity of an outboard in the lazarette so often advocated by sailors such as yourself. I didn't know the original toe rail was fiberglass. It's hard to see such details until you actually own one of these fine vessels even though I have been studying them for years online. I have yet to find a soft spot on the deck, cockpit, etc....the cabin sole is pretty gross (wife said she will try to clean up). I have a leak coming through the mast/step into the cabin through a hole drilled for electrical wiring passage; found a post related to this problem (thanks forum members). Thanks for replying and hope to chat some more!

Looks like a Wanderer. Can't enlarge the picture. Feel free to PM me a bigger pic. I'd love to see it. I've been amassing pics of these boats for quite a while and collect any I can get my hand on. Great for reference.... "Oh, that's how you do that!"

Like that blue color on the sides. I wanted to paint Mine a different color but I’m afraid of it generating a lot of heat down below. Good color for the northern climates but down here in the south silver and white about the only colors you can handle
