I fly the Geuzenvlag also from the bow sprit - post some more pics - nice to see Dutch boats.

Some of those Tjalks were visiting my waters here in New York not too long ago...

Along with HMSS Tromp

To commemorate the anniversary of the arrival of "de Halve Maen", carrying Henry Hudson on his quest to find a passage through the Nieuwe Wereld to the spice countries in the East.

The Dutch Crown Prince and his bride (or was it his girlfriend?) was here too - well protected by the US Coast Guard...

Another Dutch gem (name escapes me at this time)

My own schuitje - Geuzen vlag on the sprit.

Thanks for your pics, I hope you enjoyed mine...

nardus wrote:Thanks, I sure did ! I have red some artikel, they shipped al these boat on deck on a big freighter.
Our crown prince (Willem Alexander, a.k.a. :"wimlex") is married with Maxima Zorreguieta and they have 3 kids. Looks like`s the queens boat : de groene draeck.
These ships a not desigend to go to sea, but to sail cargo in the shallow waters of the dutch delta`s. Also called : platbodems. (flatbottoms)

But what`s with the geuzenvlag on the sprite ? and is that a dutch flag on the stern ?!
Yes, Dutch flag on the stern and I put the Geuzenvlag on the sprit when I go for an extended trip - mostly because it looks cool.

The other "Dutch Gem" pictured above is the "Onrust" by the way... Just popped back in my memory.

Yes, they shipped those Tjalks accross the Atlantic to NY Harbor on The Blue Marlin - the same kind of recovery vessel that was used to salvage the USS Cole after the terrorist attack in Yemen.
