I've posted this on other boards, but she deserves mention here too-

Seafarer Meridian 25, Hull #10, built in Holland in 1961. She's certainly not the original boat anymore, but the wooden mast is still going strong.

And she's well traveled too, particularly since we got her in New York where she had sailed on Lake Erie

October in Matagorda Bay, Tx sailing on our home bay.

She's currently moored up the Bay River in North Carolina, til we return in the spring. We've been cruising her for a tad over a year now

Pretty boat! And it looks like a very capable cruiser too.

I made many trips to Cayo Costa as a teenager aboard the family sailboat in the late 1970s; wonderful place.

You 2 are certainly getting your money's worth this year. Good luck finishing the chores so you can go back to cruising.

50... and never looked better :)

I bet the crew that built her never dreamed she would last this long or cruise this far; would be fun if they knew.

Lucky boat!

I'll second what Rachel has said. What a truly lovely vessel. I'm curious though. I see the standing shrouds, upper and lower, coming to the same point of attachment. I wonder if you ever experience mast "pumping", though that looks like a beefy spar.

On rare occasions yes. Not often. During the rebuild I talked to Brion Toss about added double lowers. He saw no need, so we didn't.

Edited to add-

That spar is a box section, original Spruce. All four sides are full length, no joints. It's finished with four coats of automotive acrylic clear coat, done almost three years ago and is still in flawless shape.

I built the boom. It's box section also but built of clear fir.

The mast is 28 feet and Laura at 5'2" can carry it around. The boom is 11 feet long.
