New paint job for Nossa Senhora Da Conceicao

Post by Command_1 »

New paint job for Nossa Senhora da Conceicao.
I spent 68 hours prepping it took my friend 3 hours for three coats.
After all that work, I still found four dimples. He says that I will be the only that knows. Yah but after all that work I wanted it perfect
The last day I spent 2 hours, very slowly looking for any inperfections but missed four. Over all if is a very good job.

There's no such thing as "perfect". Looks like you have a good job there and plenty to be pleased with. One can find imperfections in any boat and any paint job.

It wouldn't matter if it was perfect or not; it wouldn't stay perfect for long. Dinghies, fenders, docks etc all will quickly leave their mark (pun intended!) I repainted in July and had a small ding by August. Why worry? It's a boat not a Steinway. It looks great, enjoy the moment.

I spent a lot of time prepping my boat for new paint, took it clear down to the glass & used a ton of polyfare. 3 coats of awl grip primer and 4 topcoats; still had pinholes & dimples but I can't see them from the healm. Just keep her lookin good is a lot to keep up with.

Bom dia António! :)

I agree... there is no such thing as 'perfect', and usually aiming for it is just not worth the hassle and headache.
Having said that, that paint job looks awesome!

Cheers,

Tiago
