Mast from one boat to another. Caliber to Dufour

Post by Challenger949L »

Hello,
I Sold my Sabre 28 and bought a Dufour 31.The Dufour does not have a mast. I am purchasing the mast boom and rigging from a Caliber 28 to use on the Dufour 31. The new mast is 1 to 2 feet taller. The Caliber has about 1/2 a foot wider beam than the Dufour. What sort of mods will I have to make. Might I be able to reuse some of the shrouds or stays? Will I need to move the spreaders. Can I use the new mast without making it shorter?

Sounds like you are close enough to use the mast and rigging as is. I don't think the extra 6" beam will be a problem with the spreader width. Most spreaders could be a little wider for best shroud angle anyway. The shrouds should probably be close enough depending on the chainplate location. The stays may be too short, so you might need to have them made, or make up extensions.
