Old CDI furler rehab

Post by Peter »

My Vega came with an older CDI furler, the one with a metal luff extrusion, so it must be quite old. I know it's not the best, but it's what I've got so it's going back on.

I have a question about the small plastic split bushings that I assume go in either end of the joining links. There is nothing to keep them from migrating to the bottom of the stay. It looks like a PO had tried to improve on it by putting tape stops on the wire stay ... did not work.

Here's a picture of the pieces:

I have the CDI manual for their later model flexible furler, so it doesn't cover this old rigid extrusion. Does anyone on the forum have CDI savy that could solve this problem?

The only solution I've come up with so far is to make ten new split bushings that have a flange to hold them in place.
