She Sails!

I finally got my Westerly Pageant out. I hauled her & removed an entire ecosystem from her bottom at the end of last season. We actually ran out of season as we had to leave several things for this year. Anyway, we motored home from haulout as there was no wind. Which brings us to last week's sail. She does, in fact, sail. Yay! I don't know if it was removing about 500 pounds of oysters from each of her two keels or threatening to take a chainsaw to her, but I think we'll get along fine. Winds were 10-15. She doesn't heel much and she does go reasonably well to windward. As a Giles design, it shouldn't be too surprising that she sails OK, but all I knew about sailing twin keels, up to last Wednesday, was what I'd read and sailing my boat with a terribly fouled bottom. She was a safety hazard.
