Something is not adding up here...

Unless you read this in the most literal sense and then yes, you could sail it away

... because the motor is gone
... and it floats
... and a sheet tied to a stick can make a boat 'sail'

<sigh> maybe you have to gut your own boat before you realize how big a statement that really is and how far from enjoying your boat you really are.

Someone still has to explain to me how the boat came to be built in 1968 and grew to 30'.

I could forgive the build date but shouldn't a boat owner know how big their boat is? I won't even try to understand how the boat came to be listed as a 'racer'. Knowing Tritons, I would say that was pretty optimistic these days.

Nah, don't bother. I mean it's highly unlikely a potential buyer would be interested. Being able to see the boat before purchasing is totally overrated, don't you think?

Yeah, I don't think the seller knows much about Tritons or boats in general.

They probably chain sawed the hull and glassed in 2' in 1968. Hence the 1968 30' statement.

Interestingly enough, one Triton (hull #37, a yawl) has been stretched to 30'. Although it wasn't "jumbo-ized" by chopping it in half, the transom was stretched out to allow the boat to qualify for some race back in the day that had a 30' minimum.

There is a thread here that contains lots of photos that I took of this unique Triton. It's not far from me; I wonder how the owner is making out?

He says it has external ballast. Hmm a 1968 Triton with external ballast. Hull number must be under 400. I'm betting the 1968 date comes from his Florida registration. Road Island listed my Yawl hull #15 as a 1962 Pearson Triton. I guess it take a bureaucrat to really mess those dates up.

I had a private email chat with the seller. He is selling it for someone else and really knows nothing about the boat.

Clearly the info is bad. I told him that several days ago and he was happy for the info. Seems to be difficult updating the listing though.
