It needs topsides and bottom paint and the boat will be a good, but plain, Triton. I'll be updating the interior photos today or tomorrow as I've had quite a few requests. I'll post a few here.

As Tim mentioned that is actually the proper place for the slings on an old Triton, Windrose had a large open gash down the false keel when I got her where the yard had refused to sling her from aft of the rudder and then sat her down on her false keel instead of the tail end of the true keel.
I agree the slings need to be tied to prevent either end from slipping.... however, it is my experience that the yard guys seem to think they know everything. Last time I had Wind-rose hauled the guy refused to do it the way I had asked, even after showing him pictures of the proper placement. I stopped everything and had to get the yard manager out to have it done correctly. The operator was a jerk and was not taking any advice from a woman. He really bowed up when I stopped everything and went for the manager. I figure I am paying, it is my boat, it will done how I want it done.

Every one's a comedian when it comes to poor Triton #218. Between the saloon doors and the hatch over the head, the jokes never stop!
For the record, I find chaps and spurs awkward in any location.
Despite the fact that I have saloon style barn doors in my boat, the Triton is under contract as of yesterday evening. I'm going back and forth between excitement about the next step and near panic over selling a boat that I really enjoy.
The new owner (assuming he does not get cold feet) has some extended cruising planned and will hopefully do a nice job repainting the topsides. I have the Awlgrip required for the job in Flag Blue and that will go with the boat. I shouldn't discuss the new owner too much, but I have encouraged him to register on this forum - I hope he makes an appearance.

I've been wondering what's been going on ever since you had your boat surveyed a couple weeks ago, but figured you'd post something when there was news, so I didn't bother you.
It's actually a different buyer. The individual that paid for the survey backed out because of the soft foredeck and the need for a topsides paint job. Of course, those were the first things I indicated to him the boat needed before we went through with the survey. I think he simply changed his mind and felt a need to justify passing on the boat.
I'm still waiting on a copy of the survey, though (the buyer gave his permission for me to request a copy).
And sorry...someone already beat you to posting that silly bowsprit with a MacGregor attached.
Yes, Tim. I know. I was simply trying to spread the humor around the forum a bit. That's the strangest boat I've ever seen and I think it deserves a presence in more than one thread.
I just got in from the sea trial for the Triton. It was a very, very nice couple of hours on the water and everything went well. We are scheduled to complete the transaction on Tuesday. It looks like I'll be (very temporarily) boatless in two days.

Panning past many less fortunate boats and then a blue bow and those distinctive main cabin ports... What a survivor :-)

Well, no - you haven't missed a thread. However, the hunt is on and I won't be boatless for long. Particularly after having such a nice last sail on the Triton.

Amazing, isn't it?
That really is an amazing photo--and story! She's the only boat still looking "normal" in that tangle of utter destruction--a very interesting legacy!
