Sourcing BedIt butyl tape

Sourcing BedIt butyl tape

Post by lsheaf »

Does anyone know where I can find some BedIt butyl tape? Everywhere I check, it says it is back ordered. Are there any alternatives?

The stuff I’ve bought from defender isn’t as sticky and doesn’t last.

I noticed Bed-it butyl had been out of stock everywhere for about a year but apparently is now available again from Hamilton Marine:

This Dicor brand on Amazon is cheaper and might be OK but I haven't tried it yet. It has mostly good reviews but a few said it was stuck to the plastic and difficult to use:

You might try some local butyl at a hardware store.

Also, Sail-rite sells their version of butyl. I found it useable but a bit less sticky than Bed-it although it sticks to the backing paper too well.

Thanks Atom,

I did order some off Amazon a while back and it melted in the mail. It was a great big mess but I put it in the refrigerator and was able to use certain pieces. It’s been so long ago I’m not sure what brand it was.

I’ll grab a roll or two from Hamilton while they’re in stock.
