Where do you buy your fiberglass?

Post by avd155 »

With a lot of tabbing ahead of me, Id like to find a cheap source of biaxal cloth/tape online. I don't have a preference if I buy it in tape, or cloth, if it's a lot cheaper to buy it in sheet's, then I'll buy it that way. Anyone have a good source for these? I've got a fair amount of mat (from an ill thought purchase *sigh*), so mainly just biaxal for tabbing and maybe cloth. Thanks in advance :)

Try Fiberglass Supply out of Seattle. http://www.fiberglasssupply.com/ Great pricing and easy to ship to PDX quickly. I got all my supplies through them and was pretty happy with the prices and service. Just make sure you confirm your order verbally with them. I ended up with a whole lot more epoxy rollers than I ever thought I would need through a slight ordering error. I'll bring a bunch to the yard for you next time I'm down there!

I get my stuff from Express Composites. They have the best mixture of polyester resin I have ever used and all kinds of good boat raw material. Their website is www.expresscomposites.com, out of Minneapolis, MN.

http://www.mertons.com/ $6.00 yd for 1708 biax.
I also try to buy locally most of the time. There are alot of boatbuilders where I live and most of them are happy to sell me resin, etc out of there own supply.

I cut my own tabbing. Sharp set of scissors, mine are ghinger pinking shears... made it through 4 rolls of glass and still sharp. Fold the glass over a few times and cut it all at once.

Most of my fiberglass cloth and paint comes from Barbours Marine Supply in Beaufort. 410 Hedrick Street Beaufort, NC 28516-2019 - (252) 728-2136
You can walk in, buy a roll and they follow you back to the yard with it and help unload. Grin.
Good guys all around.

My resin comes from eastern burlap. http://www.easternburlap.com/
