Jamestown epoxy sale
Has Jamestown Distributors had their free shipping on epoxy sale yet this year?
I can't remember and I just realized I am getting close to finishing my third 4.35 gallon container of epoxy.

Was on Jamestown Distributors site today looking at how much I'm going to have to give them and a little banner in the left hand corner reads
"FREE STATE WIDE SHIPPING, Orders over $100."
JOY! What perfect timing for me. Hopefully others can use it too! Maybe you can get your 4.35 Gallons now!

I just had an interesting experience with JD this week.
I placed a large order that consisted of all the parts and goodies I would need to start the deck recore on my Ariel. As I was finalizing the order I noticed that shipping was free. I was very happy! Before finishing up however I realized that I had forgot to include the balsa. I added two pieces of probalsa 3/8" 2x4 sheets. Suddenly I was faced with a $67 shipping charge.
So the order of 4 gal epoxy, hardener, 2 gals of paint, 5 qts cabosil, 5 qts microballons was eligible for free shipping to North Carolina but the balsa trumped up a $67 charge!
I just don't get it??
So yes epoxy is on sale and looks like shipping is free as long as you stay clear of the balsa baby!

We will not be serving rolls today!
I called JD this AM. They said that the reason for he $67 charge was because the package was over sized. While I understand that UPS needs to charge more for over sized packages I don't understand why the package was over sized in the first place. I figured the balsa would come in those rolled up packages like jellyrolls. Guess they are shipping sheets these days??
Oh well live and learn!

I need to get to the bottom of this. The stuff I orderd showed up last night. The balsa did in fact come neatly rolled up in the same box as the biax. It would have also fit into the box that held the epoxy and paint. So I really have to wonder why I paid all that shipping?
Is there a way to tell if balsa is probalsa. I figured it would be branded in some way but it is not. All it has is a number Al600 10/E.

Andrew,
I'm a fan of Jamestown Distributors, but my faith will be shaken if they don't come to terms with you on this - or give a logical explanation. Especially given that it was in the same box as other items you ordered.
I wonder, do they have to pay a huge amount of shipping to get the balsa? Do other core places charge a large amount of shipping to send it?
Thanks for keeping us updated, and I will be interested to hear what happens.
