The rudder on my Alberg 30 has been modified at sometime, the rudder shoe - pin setup on the bottom of the rudder was removed, and now there are two stainless pintle-gudgeons.
I'd like to go back to the rudder-shoe setup (winter project). The gap between the keel and the rudder is a mega pot warp magnet. However, I'm not finding anyone who still makes bronze rudder shoes. I've checked Bristol Bronze, Spartan Marine, Davey & Co. with no luck. Any other sources??
Even if I can't find a rudder shoe, I bet I could fabricate something to attach to the end of the keel that spans that gap, but would still like to get some bronze pintle-gudgeons, of which I can't find anything larger than dingy sized hardware.

Save yourself the hassle.....Take an old clorox bottle (or similar slic/smooth plastic material) Cut a strip big enough to glue to the bottom of the keel and extends just past where the rudder starts (overlap). Works!

Or some prefab fiberglass strip (or a fiberglass mainsail batten) epoxied to the keel.

Tim,
I recognize Glissando in your picture from: http://www.triton381.com/projects/resto ... sekeel.htm
Are you happy with the results? Would you do anything different? No pot warp issues?
I've been caught up in quite a few this summer. In retrospect, I could have used some underwater epoxy and a section of batten as a temporary fix early in the season.

I would not do anything different. This is a simple and effective means of preventing fouling.
A bronze shoe would be nice, but if pot warp is your only reason for wanting one, I'd suggest that the batten will do the trick.
