There are 2 items I have found in-valuable :-

my 12v soldering iron - couldnt find one in the states - so raided my old toolbox at home and now its packed - ideal for normal electronic stuff - just heat up on the propane cooker if not hot enuff for heavier wires.

my el-cheapo digital multi-meter from harbour freight $3.99

Both of these items are small , light and easy to take with when flying...
used both frequently when crewing.

Most boats have their own stuff but ...
