Why didn't I think of that?

It's a magnetic featherboard that sticks to the table on your saw or router bench... if you've got cast iron table surfaces, this thing rocks.

I had to rip a bunch (28...) strips of douglas fir on saturday that was 3/4 thick... 20 feet long. I did it alone, with just a stick across the doorway behind my table saw. No offcut table.

This is one of those that I shoulda thought of... As you almost can't drag it off the table when the magnet is turned to the on position, just like any other magnet base. It works pretty well, over the miter slots... though they make a longer armed one that works on the left side of the blade to span the gap.

Works pretty well, too.

Every time I see pics such as these of very clean workshops and equipment I simply have to ask ... Hey guys, where the heck is the sawdust? Lol.

Hey Maine Sail,
I see your saw table extension with the router mounted up under ... i made something similar myself many years ago ... but what is the other piece of beige coloured equipment hanging there? Looks like it could be a second router???
I've tried to 'reason" it in my mind but I see no hinges etc. or even how it is attached. Just can't for the life of me figure how it works ... how about a clarification ... with pics if need be.

Skipper...

It is a cast iron table wing, that bolts up to the saw just like the original did. It just has an inset space for a router to drop into and slots for the fence to ride on.

Click here for it, and other cool goodies. http://www.benchdog.com/

I snagged one just like Maine Sails to try out... my boat shop is inside a boat, so anywhere I can save a square inch and multi-task tools is great thing indeed!

Cheers,

It is the adjustable fence for the router table extension. The Bench Dog table has hooks to hang it on when not using the router..

Thanks for the link Zach, it looks like a pretty good accessory. I built such an extension some years ago out of 3/4" ply with an arborite surface. I purchased a drop-in face plate from Lee Valley Tools, and installed it according to instructions. I use the saw table fence for the router when needed. I have a Bosch router permanently installed under the wing extension.

Thanks for the clarification Maine Sail ... strange how the eyes often cannot see somethng that is in plain sight. Once I read your message and took another look ... there it was, hooks and all.
