I did some minor maintenance on the Yanmar yesterday and used the Pela 2000 for the first time. Prior to this I had a hand pump.
The Pela 2000 rocks. It uses the hand pump to create a vacuum in the container and is sucks the oil right out. I got far more oil out than I would have with the hand pump and it was effortless. Less than ten pumps got the oil flowing and I literally did not spill a drop.
Absolutely. I haven't had to go under a car for an oil change in years because of that little beauty.
With a little section of surgical tubing it does a beauty job of bleeding brake lines too!
I need a new one now, though. The rubber shield on the hose has cracked in more than a few places, and it sucks a lot of air bubbles.
And go easy when you empty it, if you just turn it on its head that little valve on top gets gunked up over time. Try to keep that fitting oil-free if you can.
It works for me, but I'm just using it on boats and the occasional lawn mower. My motor holds 2.5 quarts so, even if I miraculously sucked all the oil out, I shouldn't have an issue.
Technically, it's 2.5 liters, which would be about 2.6 quarts.
