John Letcher design...
loved how she could pull up to a beach
as the tide receded and just sit there on her keels
secure as we fitfully rested
watching the light disappear on Mt. Baker

Here's some background info on the Aleutka 25 for those who haven't heard of it. The fiberglass over wood construction I guess can also classify it as a type of Plastic Classic. I've long wanted to experiment with a boat like this on that size range that was built of glass and has twin keels of no more than 3' draft and a full skeg to support the rudder. That gives it a secure three point base to take the bottom for anchoring in those shallow spots that dry out at low tide or going up to the beach. The Westerlies are not quite what I had in mind and it has to be pretty lines too. Maybe have to modify an existing boat.
