Second deck hatch

Post by HinduKush »

Hi I was wondering if it would be possible or prudent to install a second lewmar hatch just before the companionway seahood. The Lewmar 00 ocean flange profile opening is 8" 1/8 inside and is 10" 1/16 overall with flange. I was thinking ventilation would be better with it facing forward. Also wondering if it would weaken that deck aea to much. Thank you

I've often thought one day I'd add a small hatch there but didn't get around to it. I don't see it weakening a critical area and the hatch frame adds some stiffness. I'd want to put in something larger like the Ocean 20 if space allows.

I did not properly measure it out yet. I will look up the dimensions online for the the next two sizes up. I was just wondering about the integrity the deck. Thank you
