Installing new handrails on cabin top.

Post by Osprey »

In the process of installing new rails on cabin top, I would like to fill the void between the liner and cabin top so that the bolts have a firmer and stronger setting. Does anyone have a solution? Thank you! Gary

Osprey,

I have not done so myself but have watched my friend Rob Heggen done it many times. He overdrills the hole (but does not drill through the liner) and then fills it with thickend epoxy. After it cures he sands it smooth and redrill the hole with the correct size bit. Some times the thicken epoxy will run into the gap between the cabin top and liner. Then you will need to top it off. It's a lot like installing hardware on cored deck.

Hope this helps.
