Back when I owned #94 (WC) she had the externally mounted ports. I didn't really like the look, and the window openings were not exactly lined up. The after port opening was visibly off line with the forward one, so you had to either live with it and have an equal overlap on both windows, or the aft...

Well as everyone knows by now, I didn't make the NETA meeting on the 17th due to the office move SNAFU. I'm hoping to make it in March though. I am starting to suffer form KAHOLEE withdrawal. :( On the positive side, we decided on the Beta Marine BD722 20HP engine for KAHOLEE from Sound Marine Diese...

Yes, she is looking good. I haven't seen her in person since April and am looking forward to visiting her between the 15th and 20th of February, and meeting all the NETA guys on the 17th. Here's the latest picture. I can't wait to see her with the non-skid done. http://www.lackeysailing.com/kaholee/...

If you have a copy of the West Marine catalog from a few years back they had a design for a head pump out system that allows pumping overboard, pumping into the holding tank and pumping out the holding tank. It was more complicated Y-valve-wise, but it gave you all the control you would need. I'll t...

What you are looking at is the Carbospars, Ltd. Aerorig. Carbospars apparently got some kind of award for this design in the UK, but from what I've been able to discover they appear to be out of business since both their URLs are no longer operational. There is at least one negative (very negative) ...

That's actually kind of a surprising statement. Apparently they never have watched any of the recent America's Cup events using the IACC class yachts.A30_John wrote:Neither of them had ever seen a sail for a monohull with that much roach.

I'll probably clean it up and sell it. Kaholee has never been in saltwater. She was originally a Great Lakes boat, then moved to Elephant Butte Reservoir. Tim says it's in the best shape of any A4 he's ever seen. It hasn't been run for a few years but I never had a problem with it. It always started...

Tim and I discussed the heat issue. You can get these hatches either without paint, as we did, or painted white. Since we are planning on going with a light gray for the non-skid and will be painting the hatches to match we went with the non-painted ones. The cockpit seat hatches will be covered mos...

Hi Britton, More fuel would be nice, but I was thinking it would be quicker to just duplicate the tank since your welder could do them both at the same time based on the same measurements. 22 gal. is much more than the prefab tank's capacity of only 16.5, and probably a couple of gallons more than t...

Britton, I'm replacing the tank in Kaholee. I had planned to place the tank in the same location as you are, and I will have a similar inspection hatch for access to the cutlass bearing. I was planning on using the same tank Tim did, but since it is unbaffled my usable fuel load is cut roughly in ha...

I was going to say, if you've got it, it works, it's paid for, and you have room for it, use it, but hay, $200 is a boat part. Good on ya. :) Hope the buyer has fun with it. You can use a couple of rail fittings and a length of flexible hose to make a wire run from the deck to the mast. Mount one of the fittings on the deck, the other to the mast and run the hose between them. A few hose clamps, some tape and your all done. Just so you'll know what I'm referring to, her...

Regarding changing the name, I agree with the concept that if she has had her name for a significant period of time she should probably keep it baring the name being something inappropriate. For the first couple of years of her life, Kaholee had a different name, but she has been Kaholee for somethi...

I used an outboard to power a couple of my previous boats. The problem was when motoring through waves the stern would kick up and the outboard would come out of the water rev up then when it got dunked back into the water, kick really hard against the mount. I had a fairly healthy mount but it brok...
