Sounds like a great reason to go to Block Island.

Boat has likely been there before I know she was involved in at least one Annapolis to Newport race!

If I did an annapolis to newport race I would have gone to BI on the way home!

What a way to wake up!!

The mainsail is interesting...never seen anything like it before. Seems to work well. No battens, but the "roach-less" look is way more tolerable on old boats. Sail shape is decent all things considered. I am a racer at heart and I expected to hate it...but not too bad. Loose footed is int...

My new OLD boat....come see Andiamo...

Seems like yesterday I stumbled across Tim's Triton restoration and drooled over the great work he had done. It opened my eyes to what a classic glass boat could be and thus began an inevitable crawl towards Classic Plastic ownership. So now you can count me in as a Plastic Classic owner! She is And...

Kind of a moot point. I got beat out of it. I think they would have been fine. The front lowers were the most pronounced...thats why I think it was backstay. Kinda bummed at the whole deal now. Still looking for classic glass, 33-38 feet, "name" designer, Good shape with some projects ok. ...

Hi Rachel. It is an Allied. I re read my post and that is hard to understand. Picture the the shrouds attached to chainplates piercing the deck and attached to blocks of wood with bolts. Then the chainplate/block assembly glassed to the hull side. The hull has been deflected in response to the load ...

Question on hull deflection at chain plates.

Looked at a 1968 33' Non cored GRP boat today with slight hollows on the hull sides at point which the blocks the chain plates are attached to. Single upper with double lower shrouds. I think rig tension from a hydraulic backstay may be a contributing factor. Probably never notice them but for the f...

"* Paint the white stripes on the hull, right now the boottop is just primer and the cove stripe was overpainted with blue. There are several coats of enamel in the cove stripe, but need to get a 1-inch dremel brush attachment or something similar to grind it out properly." How about a wir...

She is bright!!! She will look great soon though. Hopefully I will be there more often. Are you really in Georgia. I am sure the Marina will get a fair amount of my money. They made a point that we can work on our boats there, but they'd like to see us buy supplies there and that they were trying to...

I was down at the marina last weekend and saw your boat!

Was wondering what was going on with all the new paint work.

Color is going to be great.

I'll keep an eye out for you once I get down there and say hey!

(dontcha just love crawl spaces and camel crickets?...that's where I'll be in the morning!!!)

I did find Essex bank will loan on an older boat at about 9+% with 30% down. not bad terms for the risk they are accepting. But HELOC was a better deal. I was going to spend only cash and rework baot myself, but ran across a boat that had been done and appear to be a good value due to owners change ...

Suppose thats why they make home equity loans..... Looked a Pearson 35 today. Mid 20's should have been mid teens (maybe lower). Crazed deck on every square inch. Gorgeous interior. Has potential....if the owner was serious about selling it. Looked at a second Pearson...again mid 20's nicer but mid ...

First Question

Hi guys and gals. I am looking at classic plastic sailng yachts. Mid late 60's, Alberg, Allied, Morgan, Pearson, etc... Has anyone found a bank that understands old boats and finances them? I figure instead of buying with cash available, I can kick in a bit more and get an even better boat. Any lead...
