Re: How to choose new running rigging lines
Hi Ian - If with your halyards the wire goes onto the winch, then the wire is handling the important "low stretch" requirement of that job, so I think just about anything would do for the line part. Regular double braid polyester...? Otherwise, look for line with low stretch as its main fu...

Amazing boat and work, David - she is going to be gorgeous. Given the stoutness of her construction and all that teak woodwork, I guessed she was a Taiwan build, but looking at sailboatdata.com it shows that some were made in Canada, and there were also "kit" versions. Whichever yours was,...

Good advice, pieces can come in handy. For example, I made an outboard motor mount for a daysailer this summer using deck cutouts and former hatches from powerboats. Replaced the rusty heavy thing that was there with a sub-2# maintenance free solution.

Info below in regards to Hurricane Florence, location Winyah Bay, Georgetown, SC, All in all, we made it thru the storm very fortunately, in addition to 'dodging a bullet' in that it didn't come straight in over top of us as a Cat4 like it was forecast to up until just 4-5 days from actual landfall....

Input, thoughts, experiences...? I've been looking around at what might be a good (or better) solution than what I have for powering an A-30 via outboard. Hi Mira - In addition to James excellent advice, I'd suggest you make a quick check of your rig to see that it is in tune. It's unlikely, but possible that this could be a contributing factor. Marcelo take a look at golf cart batteries. They are 6V but if you'll run two in series you get a nice 12V 105Ah bank that can handle deep discharge with aplomb. I've used these and was able to pass a standard propane fitting thru it fairly easily. The rubber 'washer' inside stretches enough to handle the greater diameter.

If it's Azek brand or similar, it is actually a sheet form of PVC foam. Not super compressible, but definitely more so than G10. I'd do this: Prep the backing pad by sanding, routing, or otherwise rounding corners and edges down to a radius appropriate for glass to easily adhere - say at a 45* angle...
