KAHOLEE, St. Mike's
Hello all, I'm tied up to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum dock in St. Michaels, after a rather bumpy crossing from Annapolis yesterday. After Annapolis and "Ego Alley" this is way laid back. The CBMM is definitely worth a look if you ever get down here. I'm going to do the wooden boat a...

Alternator output vs Link 20 Ah reading
My understanding of how a charging system works is that the alternator amperage out dorps to around 2 amps when the batteries are around 80% charged. My Link 20 battery monitor records negative amp hours which are suppose to be related to battery capacity remaining. If the above assumption is correc...

Ceto, Tim and I went through this insurance question with KAHOLEE before we launched. All I could get was a policy for $20k, which wouldn't replace the engine and electronics, much less the rest of the boat. We even tried to get one of those agreed value policies figuring I'd just pay for the extra ...

I'm currently at the Inner Harbor Marine Center in Baltimore and the remnants of Hanna just went by. The Wind was up for a couple of hours between noon and 1400 and there has been rain all day but both have ceased recently. Spent most of the day arranging things inside and watching the blow. All in ...

Thanks Balance I was hoping someone would say that. I'm going to have to wait until the wrinkles dry out which might take a while (it's been a week already) I might just use the pieces the way they are and sand flat this winter. Steve, I'm not sure you have to wait until the wrinkles dry. Tim showe...

While not a triton, here's another small boat website that is interesting.
http://www.peacefuljourney.ca/
This is a bit dated, but it's one of the best written small boat trip reports I've seen.

Rachel, here's what I heard. Fernando just arrived last week in Flores, Azores in Triton. He departed alone from Brunswick, GA on May 16 and made a slow 14 day passage to Bermuda and then a fast passage of 19 days to Flores. He seems to be a bit slow in updating his website so don't attach any signi...

Automatic Foghorn Project
I was reading a thread on the SSCA board about foghorns and one guy suggested a cheep alternative would be an old car horn, which got me thinking. Sitting around for hours pressing a button or blowing a foghorn would be really boring so how could I automate the process. Some kind of timer circuit ho...

CIN-TECH Laser Thermometer
I've got one of these aboard and it is really handy for checking various things like the temperature of the stove pipe or the area adjacent to where it exits the doghouse. Florida Court Decision Regarding Anchoring Regulations
http://www.cruisersnet.net/index.php?categoryid=78 There has been a trend in Florida where local municipalities restrict anchoring. A while back the state of Florida enacted legislation that restricts local municipalities from doing so. The above link is on the first test case regarding illegal anc...

Bill, It is great sailing in Maine, the only drawback is the speed bumps (locally know as lobster pot buoys) but Tim tells me you get use to it. I did ok running before the wind, but had a tough time maintaining sail trim when close hauled as I was spending too much time trying to spot the speed bum...

Chris, When I moved Kaholee to Maine I got insurance through Progressive. It was painless, they did not require a survey and the price was very reasonable. I do believe they have a value limit though so I'm going to have to revisit this before Kaholee leaves Tim's shop. You might give them a try. Ta...
