[completely unrelated question] Maybe it's just the camera angle, but I'm curious how your boat hauler managed to drop your boat at such an angle to your driveway, since he'd have to pull straight out from beneath and it looks like the driveway is at a completely incompatible angle. (Sorry...weird ...

I have made a bit more progress this week and have shaped most of the port side rail. This was the process of marking off the third section: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/triton114/crail3.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/triton114/crail2.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/...

But regardless of how one describes it, it looks great! Thanks Dave! That ipe must be hell on the iron, though! Ipe is hard and does dull tools fairly quickly, but it’s definitely workable. I remember a short article about it a couple of years ago in American Woodworker magazine that showed a guy s...

Where did you souce you IPE??? I am going to have to replace my rails one of these days and need a good supplier. Ric, The Ipe comes from Vienna Hardwoods. The supply on hand was not that plentiful recently, but they can get it from their wholesale supplier in a couple of days. They have both 4/4 a...

My A35 actually has a two piece cap. The solid top rail and a 3/4 thick outer rail that is probably there as a sacrificial piece. Is the main section of the rail substantially thinner than the outside lamination on your A35. If so, I can understand the reasons for that. I can already see that the c...

I started the process of milling the cap rails this week. The weather is too cold to continue with fairing the rails they attach to, but I think they are close enough to measure the cap sections. I began by making a prototype of two rail sections out of pine to primarily figure out the measuring jig...

I spent probably at least 25-30 hours of work smoothing out the interior of my Triton. It’s a big, big job. I went through almost 3 gallons of filler to do the whole interior, as well. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/triton114/interfair1.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h127/triton114/in...

Figment, I?m just starting to work on fairing the hull in the next week or so. I need to do quite a bit of work where the toerails were modified, but there are also lots of other areas that need work. Some of them are self-induced when I decided to rush the paint removal process. Others are imperfec...

I bought my Triton in 2004 for $3500 on ebay. I?m having a hard time today understanding why I paid that for it, but I did. The boat had spongy decks, a broken bow rail, a false keel that could be peeled open, flaking interior paint, and all the other traits of a Triton that has never had a major re...

I know these pictures are a bit boooooring, but I'm excited to be closing in on fair decks. Please forgive the poor qualitiy of the photos, as well. It was a rainy day here today. Table Pedestal
This is hopefully the last modification to the decks that I will be doing before fairing and painting. The plan is to build a table that uses a removable pedestal for both the cabin and cockpit. To that end, I acquired the beefiest table pedestal system I could find with the hope of using a single p...

Rub Rail Modifications
This week, I started to modify the molded toe rails on my boat to accept a wooden cap. I worked on the port section this week and I hope to get to the starboard section next week. I started by sanding off the old gelcoat from the rails. I then used a thin cutoff wheel on the my right angle grinder t...

On your drip pan - I'm confused. That picture is looking forward towards the aft end of your engine mounts, right? Your bilge pump will be mounted underneath the floor or whatever that is in the top of the picture, and the hose will run under the drip pan and exit aft (bottom of picture)? That's al...
