Re: Our Winter Worklists
Yes the keel crack was just some good ol' grind-and-tape work. Just onerous enough to make me appreciate all I learned during my Triton days, and hey it's a powerboat so no need to go crazy fairing it out absolutely perfectly. Good-enough is good enough. The masthead light is a mystery, as is the st...

Let's see who's still paying attention. I have space on the calendar for one more little cruise and then it's time for haulout, so the list is forming in my mind. Winter worklist 2023-24 1. Repair broken grabrail at starboard quarter 2. Completely strip and refinish all (exterior) brightwork. ALL OF...

The forum changed before Tim handed it off. Indeed I think it's WHY Tim handed it off.
I think 2008 had something to do with it as well. Bad economy, not a lot of people doing interesting boat projects, most shifted in to hunker down and ride it out "maintenance mode".

Whatever you use for stakes, I absolutely recommend that you tie-down to whatever else you happen to have around as well. Somewhere on this forum there are photos of my first Stimson which got sucked off the ground, and dropped on its back 200' downwind. That sucked. The rebuild included some 1/8&qu...

I had a Stimson shed for about 6-8 years. When we sold the property it was on, the shed was sawzall-ed down to transportable frames and as far as I know has been re-erected and lives still. I miss it quite a lot, honestly. Shrinkwrap (WHITE NOT BLUE NOT CLEAR BUT WHITE SHRINKWRAP) is absolutely the ...

I'm going to hazard a guess that the 2-blade prop necessary to put that much power into the water is going to be larger than you can comfortably fit in a Triton's aperture.

I went through the same "minimize deck clutter" exercise after I recored my decks, I understand where you're coming from, but really... reinstall the tracks. It's easier on the deck, spreads the load over more area and more fasteners. It's easier on the sail, you'll be able to set the angl...

That's a pretty tall order.
Any nesting design will have one component at least 6" smaller than the other, which limits your LOA to 7'6" at most.
Even CLC Eastport Pram at 7'6" only nests down to 4'8" or so IIRC.
That's a starting place, anyway.

With a fractional rig the chute can hide quite easily behind the main. Blow 8' or so of the halyard. Gather the foot of the sail to the companionway. blow the rest of the halyard and stuff it down. Gybing is basically a dowse and re-set. Sirena.... yes, the last time I talked to Donzo he was thinkin...

No not a trick question.
Not a genuine one either, of course, more a suggestion for pause to consider that the original builders might have brought some thought and experience to bear on the decision back in the day.
