Re: Inner Forestays: Intermediate vs Masthead
James I certainly appreciate your reply. Much to consider, but luckily I have time to think on it. I will take your word that the additional rig security is appreciable. At the very least, I think I'll work in additional support for intermediate lower chainplates before building out the saloon cabin...

Inner Forestays: Intermediate vs Masthead
Currently working in the V berth on my Swiftsure project, adding an additional beam and tabbing to the chain locker bulkhead to support a deck fitting for a moveable inner forestay. I'm already well convinced of the benefits of such a stay for heavy weather sails, but it got me thinking about future...

Re: Looking for Rhodes Swiftsure 33 Owners
I should correct myself and say that "impervious" is not the right word for silicon bronze, but it is much higher on the galvanic scale than any zinc-bearing alloy. I hadn't considered glassing over the ballast, but having recently finished glassing the entire deck and hull-deck joint this...

Re: Looking for Rhodes Swiftsure 33 Owners
James, Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did notice that a lot of those posts were from some time ago, but I figure if any other owners are online this would still be the best forum to find them. I did some rough measurements a few years back when I bought the boat and determined a tilting well...

Looking for Rhodes Swiftsure 33 Owners
Having been back in the archives here I've noticed that several members have or do own one of these beauties. I'm neck deep in a full rebuild of hull #20 and would would love to hear what other owners or those that have spent considerable time aboard might have to say. I plan on making several chang...

Re: Outboard Well Performance
Andy, thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate the tips on maneuvering with the outboard, hopefully they will save me any potential embarrassment when I get around to splashing her. The ability for side thrust of the engine seems like a big benefit in my mind, and in my experience on smalle...

Re: Outboard Well Performance
Thanks for replying. Your website and Youtube posts have been a big inspiration for me in gaining the confidence to take on a rebuild like this. I have had the intention of using many of your practical modifications, including the tilting outboard well, on a boat of my own long before I had the oppo...

Outboard Well Performance
Hello all, This is my first post here as I've only just discovered this forum. I'm a college senior that's been slowly bringing a gutted 1960 Rhodes Swiftsure 33 hull back to life as a sort of hobby project, and I'm sure to be in need of plenty of advice as I move along with her. One question that I...
