My Final Solution
Hey, as I promised, my follow up to this on what I’ve decided to do for a removable inner stay solution. First, to address why I don’t have intermediate shrouds, I had a discussion with one of the members of Plastic Classic. The CD 30C has an inner stay that terminates about 4’ down from the top of ...

Re: Free Schafer 1100 6’ Foil Section
Hey CapnK! I’m a bit south of you, Hilton Head Island.
I’m content keeping it stowed on deck until someone comes to pick it up, so it’s first-come first-serve!
Kindly,
Benjamin

Free Schafer 1100 6’ Foil Section
Local pick up only in southern South Carolina.
It’s a full 6’ section that I do not need, don’t know what else I could use it for and I can’t just send it to recycling without seeing if someone wants it.
Again, not selling, just giving it to someone that wants/needs one.

Re: Removable inner forestay conversion
Wow, these are two incredibly useful and thorough responses that answer all my questions (and then some), thank you Kurt and James. It makes me wonder why intermediate aft shrouds weren't incorporated in the original design of my cutter rigged CD, I'll have to look into that for sure. Whatever I end...

Removable inner forestay conversion
Hey all, I am looking for advice on how to proceed with rigging a removable inner forestay. By removable, I mean the ability to take it from the foredeck to a nearby shroud chainplate when not in use for the advantage of hassle-free tacking of the headsail. I have seen the end result on some YouTube...

Re: Dissimilar battery banks grounding
Thanks for your thoughtful response James. I found a location where I can place a bus bar for the negative term that the existing cable attached to the engine block will reach, so I’m going to head over to WM and grab one today. Good point on the bank size. I used one of the several available sizing...

Dissimilar battery banks grounding
Situation: I have two battery banks aboard my sailing vessel (Cape Dory 30C) that are switched via a break-before-make 1-2-Off rotating selector switch. One (new) bank is Lithium Ion, the (legacy) other is AGM. I’m keeping both, and I’m not interested in charging them both via the alternator. The al...
