OK , I did the burn test and the Heet burns hot and best of all absolutely clean . Best price on Heet is at Home Depot $1.98 per 12 oz . Only bad thing about Heet , a few have said it is not good to breath the burning fumes and don't get on your skin .

OK , I have to admit I didn't watch the utube videos . It's worth typing in the URL . The way Randy was explaining it I thought he was using a electric AP too . To answer the question he uses a Monitor wind vane . Monitor bought Pelagic and the electric Pelagic can be used with the Monitor vane .

For halyards , main , jib , I would say no bigger than 7/16 . I like Sta-Set New England , not to be confused with Sta-Set X . For sheets possibly but not necessarily 1/2 , because it's easier on the hands . For Spinnaker I'm thinking 3/8 halyard and sheets .

I fixed this problem on my friends boat , although he has a Shaffer . Same problem as yours too much bulk spooling up , easy fix pull out about 3/4 of the furl line's core . Also when furling keep tension on the furling line so that it winds up tight .

Thanks for the like "rescue" , well they do require maintenance but it's not a big deal . And I use Cetol lite . One thing that really helps is a holding fixture to hold them for drying . Also when i'm painting them I use one of tangs to hold it and then attach that to the holding fixture ...
