Re: Hong Kong sailmaker
An overseas loft just builds a sail to the design provided - meaning if you order from your local 'loft' that uses overseas to make the sail it is to the local's design. If you like how your local designs sails use the local as if you use an overseas you have no idea how they design a sail and even ...

Re: putting the boat back together
I've been busy between late Winter storms doing some things on my M17. I still need to complete buffing out the cockpit and then I’d like to put a coat of wax on the entire boat before heading to Puget Sound. I’ve scraped off the worse of the trailer’s rust and treated it with Rustoleum to keep the ...

Re: knock knock knock
Sadly, I do agree that boating appears to be a dying pastime. boating is doing fine - bass boats, wake boats, power boats ... it is sailing that is shrinking  ... I believe that every marina has some number of abandoned boats in the 30' or smaller range. yep ... the usual new sailboat sold the...

Re: knock knock knock
I think in time we'll get busy again, with some of the former great contributors returning, and new ones joining in as they find the place. I plan to do some tweaking to get the content here more 'noticed' by Google et al, that should help new folks find us. :) Forums are a 'hard sell' these days. ...

Re: putting the boat back together
Electrical - here's a 3-function adapter for ~$16 you might want to try (Voltmeter, 12v power, 2x USB power)... I've seen those in my panel searching and my concern is the wiring and connectors not being 'true marine' and in this case 'marine' seems to be in reference to the 'waterproof' cap and no...

after years of neglect
getting the Montgomery 17 back into shape. my first project was a quick one as it is winter in Colorado (18-deg and snowing as I type this) and earlier this week it was in the mid-50s. So I got the teak sanded, cleaned and oiled - couple of photos - much weathered.jpg looking much better 2.jpg more ...
