I have heard of painting your rudder and keel a different color for various reasons and also for painting the hull a bright color for rescue purposes, but this has them beat.

One last question re peel-away.

A couple of the old timers at the yard say to use regular thick poly sheeting sealed (duck tape?) At the edges over the top of the peel away.

Does anyone have experoience of this versus the "real" paper supplied?

Thanks Tim, I knew about the 'bright shiny metal', good point with the 'polyester' - thanks. That's so's he'll know when to reapply bottom paint. When he starts to see black bottom, he knows that it's getting thin! (Ablative paint types, of course!) Nathan is correct, using a black base only besause that's what I have on my new boat. Having spent time litterally chipping ablative paint off...

I used an old Pentium II (Dell Latitude) laptop running Sea Clear and a cable to a handheld gps. Itworked fine. I had a small Xantrex inverter too (< $40 at Radio Shack) because the battery was shot.

Seems to hold up fine if you take reasonable care of it.
