Aux fuel tank proposal from another BB
There is a guy on another forum I participate in that is proposing adding plastic jerry cans below deck with a 12v pump to transfer fuel from there to his main tank (see post below) I decided that 138 liters of fuel were not enough, on the other hand I decided that both the port and starboard aft la...

Thanks Tim, I knew about the 'bright shiny metal', good point with the 'polyester' - thanks. The bottom layer is actually a primer, given the thickness - did slice the pieces with a razor out of curiosity and it is definitely all paint. I would say that not all of the slices are that thick, some are...

Was don at the marina yesterday in the hi 40's temps stripping the bottom of Impeckable. As a reminder she is a 1984 Kirie Elite 32, fiberglass hull, iron keel with swing keel/ CB. We had the CB broppsed and done over last spring, now am doing the bottom. A sharpened 5 in 1 tool proved best to zip o...

That's so's he'll know when to reapply bottom paint. When he starts to see black bottom, he knows that it's getting thin! (Ablative paint types, of course!) Nathan is correct, using a black base only besause that's what I have on my new boat. Having spent time litterally chipping ablative paint off...

Those T-105s: are they the wet cells or AGM? You can get away with less if they are AGM since they won't off-gas as much. Wet cells - my charger isn't set up for AGM charging and I stuck with wet cells for reasons I thought I covered in a post a ways back. Thanks for your responses, always good to ...

Battery box - ABYC ?
I just collected my new T105's and it seems that they are a fraction larger than I had calculated from the specs. I don't think I will be able to use the exisitng off the shelf box I have and will need to make a custom box (I have the physical space for it). I was going to build a plywood / epoxy bo...

Someday, it'd be nice if someone would build an entire structure or mechanism that used only one size nut. For a start, wouldn't it be great if someone built a boat that only had metric or SAE fasteners, not both? Speakng as someone who grew up in the UK with 4 different gauges (Metric, SAE, Whitwo...

The real test for any diesel is to run it. I have minimal experience but I can agree with that. We just bought a boat that had been on the hard for 12 months. 4 months earlier I had repowered my previous boat (yea, I put all of 50 hours on that before we sold it), so suffice to say I was anxious th...
