I actually diassembled the unit and reversed the piece that goes on the mast after filing the worn surface smooth so that the old top surface is now at the bottom, I figure this needs to be full thickness to carry the load. I also filed the bit odd shape swivel but smooth and then "cut" (m...

Need a new gooseneck

Need a new gooseneck for the old boat (Elite32), this one is showing excess wear and needs to be replaced. It fits in the track on the mast and the rest is self explanatory (I think). I took measurements earlier. So what am I missing ? Why can't I find such an item anywhere ? Any tips or is this one...

My counts

My counts are off because I have 2 id's - I stopped using the email address associated with the first one and forgot the PW, so I enrolled with a new id, so I am not really bipolar unless I am MarkWilme and Mark.Wilme of course.

I saw it

I saw the boat at the Newport show - wow, surprised it doesn't just tip over !!!

Also, it's a short stubby mast, probably because that has to fit inside the container too

Report from the Newport boat show, we almost bought a boat

I guess a lot of people almost buy a boat, especially with the free alcohol they give away Anyhows, We went to the Newport Boat show on Friday (rain, rain, rain) and I know most of you aren't going to like this but we pretty much got smitten with a new boat from one of the big manufacturers. Now, w...

Still alot of masking tape on it, not fully riggedetcbut looks like a nice, nice boat - if you like that ki...

For a weeks rental of 4 5ft "lifts", 4 screw type levelling feet, connector pins and 3x aluminum planks it cost me $100. I only used them Sat - Tue as I had to be back at work and there was no point leaving them just lying around ...... and that's part of the $$$ dillema on rent v buy. I n...

Scaffold / staging

I was searching the archives for "scaffold" when I came across this post. I rented 4 x 5ft "lifts" this weekend to paint part of the house (pictures below) - What an asset, I can't believe how much easier it is with a set of scaffolding versus a plethora of ladders. I was going t...

we will

I'll be there salivating over modern (to be) plastic classics and tramping around other peoples boats (How do manufacturers persuade new boat owners to exhibit their new boats like this and have strangers trapsing through them ????). But then for us it's only 25 minutes from the marinaso I'll take F...

That third photo

Note at the time I took that fourth photo looking under the bridge I scanned 180 degrees and counted over 60 sailboats within view - really something.

Whitehawk

Yes Whitehawk (found out the name afterwards).

Photo was taken just South of Mt Hope bridge, I read somewhere that Prince Albert of Monaco was onboard that day.

Finding a path through the swarm

If you think sailing through a fleet of wooden boats is tough, try finding a route through these.

Wooden Boat show - Newport, RI

Well not exactly the wooden boat show in Newport, but the swarm of wooden boats that were on the water on Saturday (Aug 26th) - in the upper part of East passage around the Mount Hope bridge. If you want the full size version of one of these (reduce for web), email me for it. Enjoy Mark. http://i79....

Thank-you, and ...

Thank you Tim, Nathan She has ACT on there now which I understand is an abaltive paint, however looking at this flake (in this here zip lock bag) it looks like it may be another type of paint underneath that has failed ..... Hmmm Last year, yes there were some areas that I had to touch up, but this ...

Bottom paint naivity (guess this falls under "technique

This should be a quick one, maybe "bottom sanding grunt" can answer :) In scraping and washing the bottom of Impeckable this fall, some of the bottom paint has come off in large flakes (large being less than the size of a credit card). On examination the flakes are blue on both sides so I ...

Curious

Tim , I'm curious - given that both power washing the hull and winterizing the engine are'wet jobs' that you undertake inside the barn - why did you not (or did you) consider a floor drain to a sump with a pump.

Or am I missing something ?
