Congrats......... I think you were the one asking about the teak work..... Any decisions on the road you will take? The teak looks in mint natural condition.
Good luck

I agree with both of the earlier posts..... and will add It is nice to see a boat with natural teak, sure it's greyed a bit...... better that than a old varnish job that has been neglected chipped away with time. Now what do you do... I have done my fair share of countless hours of brightwork and te...

I have a few simple questions.......... we are just about to start the varnishing campaign on all the teak and new mahogany coamings, companion way trim, dorade box, etc. and was wondering two things. 1. Rachel, We are close to re-attaching all deck hardware on "Rosie" after our very long paint job on the deck... I have a question, why do you fill holes from the bottom rather than the top? Is it because your drilling a oversized hole? Is this the case for all the thru deck holes? Thanks Todd

They look in perfect condition to me (new in fact) unless there is some structural defect i can't see. Why change them? With that said.... what is your opinion on the Quik-Dry.... vs. the regular longer drying time version? Is it important to have a quicker flash so it won't drip, sag etc. Or longer dry time for a "wet edge" so it has more time to flow?

Some of the posts have mentioned applying epoxy before varnish. I assume that's supposed to water proof the wood. Is that really needed? I would think several coats of varnish would do the job unless the wood is under water continuously.
