Re: How to fuel and Ankerlickt oil lamp?

Thanks to brob76 for this photo which answers my question. I will now soak the joint in penetrating oil and see if I can remove the burner.

How to fuel and Ankerlickt oil lamp?

I have an old ankerlickt oil lamp that came with my alberg 37. I am trying to get it working and I have two problems. First, I can't figure out how to fill it with oil. The only way seems to be removing the wick and putting the oil down the tube that the wick is in, but that doesn't seem right becau...

Re: Poli Glow Experiences ??

I have used Poli Glow on two old boats, a Pearson Vanguard and an Alberg 37 and I think it works great. The only knock I have heard on it is it is supposed to turn yellow over time but there is no hint of yellow on my Alberg's white hull after three years of use.

EZ Kold Reefer Start Up After Sitting for 4 years

I have a water cooled EZ Kold reefer in my Alberg 37 that hasn't been used for about 4 years. I have had the boat for a year now but did not use the reefer last year. I am wondering what maintenance items I would most likely need to do to get this system going for the upcoming season. I know nothing...

Something of a lessor value...? You anger Neptune at your own risk.

Re: westerbeke parts

Torresen Marine in Michigan is a source for new parts but they are expensive. There is a fellow on ebay who parts out Westerbeke diesels and you can buy used parts inexpensively on ebay. I had a bad injection pump on my Westerbeke 40. I think the injection pump is not a Perkins part. A new one from ...

Re: Palmer Johnson Alberg 35

I saw this boat on Yachtworld and would have bought it in 30 seconds had I not already owned an Alberg 37. You are going to love that boat. If I were you I would be seriously considering trucking it to Toronto just to sit in it during March.

Fuel Polishing

I am thinking about a fuel polishing system for my Alberg 37. I have a petcock at the bottom of the tank that I could convert to a fitting for intake into the polishing system. I was thinking of a facet electric pump, then a filter, then back into the tank, perhaps by teeing into the existing diesel...

Re: Any tips for removing the injector pump on Westerbeke 40?

Last Saturday I spent another day contorted under my nav table trying to remove the injector pump. I took off all the fuel lines to the pump and in so doing I was able to get better access to the leaky fitting and was able to remove it with the injector pump still mounted. I inspected the fittings, ...

Re: Wet exhaust not all that wet

Thanks to all for the great information on this topic. I ended up backflushing my system from the exahust elbow forward and things looked pretty clean. Then I tested the output of my water pump and it was nil, even with a new impellor. I replaced the water pump and the problem was solved. I went sai...

Any tips for removing the injector pump on Westerbeke 40?

I have a diesel leak on a fitting on the injector pump located between the pump and the engine itself, so it is very, very difficult to get at. It appears that I am going to have to remove the injector pump to fix the leak at the fitting. It looks like it is a matter of taking off all the fuel lines...

Re: Photos of my Alberg 37

It is a sloop rig. I will be sailing out of Port Washington, WI which is just north of Milwaukee. I plan to try to get the boat bulletproof this season, and then try to get up to the North Channel next summer.

Here are some photos of my Alberg 37. I purchased this last fall and have been working on it all winter. I will be sailing it on Lake Michigan and it is scheduled to go in the water in a week.

Thanks to you all for those excellent suggestions. I will start at the water pump and work my way back looking for a plug somewhere. I will let you know what I find.

Wet exhaust not all that wet

In the continuing saga of getting my new to me Alberg 37 ready to go after sitting for 3 years, I started the Westerbeke 40. Since I am on the hard I had a plastic bin filled with water next to the engine with a hose from the water pump intake placed in the bin. After changing all filters, draining ...

Re: Removing the ghost of vinyl graphics

I removed vinyl graphics in three places on the boat, the transom, and forward on the hull on each side. For two of the three, some Poliprep ( a hull cleaner) and 600 grit sandpaper removed the ghost of the letters. In the third spot I applied the Poliprep, sanded with 600 grit, then tried automotiv...

Re: Removing the ghost of vinyl graphics

Thanks to all who have replied so far, the suggestions are very helpful. The surface of the hull is the original gelcoat. When I took the 600 grit sandpaper to it I started to see some slight yellowing which made me concerned that I was taking off too much gel coat, and it didn't make much of a dent...

Removing the ghost of vinyl graphics

I purchased an Alberg 37 last fall and am changing the name. I removed the vinyl graphics for the old name but there is a ghost of the old name on both sides of the forward hull and transom. I am assuming there was less UV exposure where the graphics were and so the hull color (off white) is differe...
