Re: Nothing like a Bigger Project Boat!

I am so relieved to hear she is not going to be broken up. I am a retired BC from the Fire Dept. here in Newport News Va. where she was built, and have been aboard her many, many times. She was moored at an old coal pier here for a long time and we would respond to many false alarms late at night. I ...

Re: Alternatives to the Pearson Ensign?

I agree with Tim, if you are looking at designs you like, you should buy one thats ready for your enjoyment. My Kittiwake as mentioned needs some work, work that I chose to do. I had been waiting and looking for a boat that, doing my "vintage" years, I could single hand. I was looking for ...

Re: Alternatives to the Pearson Ensign?

There is another Alberg design you should consider, the Kittiwake 23,full keel, lead ballast, outboard well, good interior space and inexpensive. Although its not as popular as those listed the Kittiwake always turns heads when cruising. I gave $1200 for mine that was in the water sailing but needs some...

Re: Looking for Sea Sprite 27/28 or similar boat

Brodie: I agree with Hirilonde I,am confused? An Alberg design is very worthy of your consideration. My larger boat has become difficult to singlehand so I also have an Alberg designed Kittiwake 23. She is full keel, weights 3700 lbs is bullet proof and is sitting in my driveway on a trailer. When I...

Re: Inside vs outside

Gorden: There is no reason to not go outside from your location if you pick your window weather right. If you do, make sure you pass Hatteras well off shore as you will be dealing with the Gulf Stream, and you may want to get to the east side of it. It might be a little iffiy to stay west of it this...

I loosely followed her blog also and I don't think she would care one way or the other about being recognized by the Premier Yacht Club. Along with her age they also said she didn't go far enougth North to say she circumnavigated. I would say just rounding all the Capes would be enought. I also beli...

Re: Raw Water Intake for Sink, How Necessary?

I don't post very often but here is my two cents worth as it somewhat related. I came off my raw water intake ( gated valve ) on my Bigger Boat to supply my AC unit. I also felt that in an emergency I could loosen the connection and use the intake and the engine for an emergengy bilge pump as this l...

Got you beat with the winds Quetzalsailor. We have had 25 gusting to 40 most of the day here in Hampton Roads. Hirilonde you did an excellant job building those port trims. They will be somewhat smaller so I should be able to do a halfway decent job w...
