The boat is dry stored at a club and launched via crane to floating docks. There isnt enough room unless you rig and derig bow in. a bow eye tends to get hung up on the edge of the dock.

we'll have to see how this is going to work.

removing silicon

In the past someone placeed a heavy bead of silicon on the rubrail/hull joint. I have removed the rail but the silicon is stuck to the hull. how do i get it off? I'm going to grind and put a layer of glass. will any residue affect the bond?

Any particular reason you listed only Perfection and Interthane? Why not go to an automotive paint supplier... Skies the limit. Metallics, candys, custom mixes. Go to something like Orange County Choppers for some inspiration. I dont have spray equipment so roll and tip is fine. Also i'm trying to ...

I'm a sick sick man but we rescued the boat to keep it racing. I have sold the yellow boat and it is going to be moving clubs but continue racing. we have 20 mariners at our club and 2 other local fleets have close to 20 as well. The mariner with over 4000 boats represents a cheap alternative to a n...

Wow. This is a toughie, primarily because I REALLY think you hit the nail on the head with the boat on the left. Nice work. My gut reaction is white bottom, grey topsides, blue accents. Wow! I like the way you think. I allready have that scheme tagged for this... http://www.imagestation.com/picture...

mold release?

i am trying to square up some outside corners. Can i use packing tape as a mold release on either side? I have a flat board wrapped with tape to form one side as a mold. i plan to work the epoxy up to the mold with a spreader.

will i be ok with the packing tape?

the biggest benifit to the peel away is the lack of odor and fumes. working in a garage in winter with traditional stripper would be fun but i can think of better ways to kill some braincells. its messy and it doesnt peel away but scraping it onto a tarp makes for an easy cleanup. get the spray clea...

the boat is dry stored and raced. After stripping it will be wetsanded to 600 then polished.

The stripper should get most and keep the paint dust to a minimum

stripping bottom paint

I'm loaning my garage to a friend to do some work on his boat. The plan is to lift the boat off the trailer sat morning and strip the bottom, 2-3 layers of old brown paint. He got the west marine peel away safety strip with the paper. Whats our working time with this stuff? The sales person says 8hr...

I found your site last night and was reading untill 1am. Theres alot of great info so let me throw my hat in the ring. We are in the process of rebuilding a M-16 Scow from the 70's. Its a little race boat that scares the heck out of you on a windy day. i opened up a soft spot in the floot to reveal ...
