I just replaced my cable. I ordered it from Torresen Marine for $30 and they come in different lengths. You could cut your old one down by carefully cutting the outer cable then replacing the ajuster.

Re: year of manufacture

I think it is possible that if a boat was built in one year and then was shipped to a dealer, then was not sold until the next calendar year, the dealer could have sold it as being a new boat from the year it was first sold. When I bought Alli-Ann (#53), the bill of sale lists her as a 1961 Pearson ...

One thought on tools on the boat:

I have my good tools on the boat but I also have a cheep pair of plyers and a
"fit-all" to take on deck, so I can wave bye-bye instead of saying "Oh S#!T" when
they go overboard.

Fireworks in Narragansett bay

I am hoping to see the Bristol fireworks Friday night and I was wondering if anybody knows if we would have a good view out off of Colt State Park? It would be a lot less time for me to get back to my mooring than if I have to go into Bristol harbor.

A 1 gallon garden sprayer with a TSP and bleach mix should work. You can get one for about $25 at a hardware store. A pressure washer inside a cabin can be done but use the low pressure tip and be sure to have goggle type eye protection because you will get a lot of splash-back.

Melville is a district of Newport, near the Navy base. It does not show up on most maps. All of RI cities & towns are divided into districts (mostly started as Fire Districts) and the locals often say that they are from some district rather than the city or town.
