Re: Stolen jib...
Try looking for your jib on craigslist. I had a similar incident involving a stolen kayak. I found it listed for sale on craigslist shortly after it went missing. I made arrangements to meet the seller in a public place. I retrieved my kayak. As I was leaving with my kayak the "seller" was...

Re: Triton Helm Balance
I guess having a new main and about 5 to 10 knots wind speed makes all the difference. Ray, Yep. A new main sail made all the difference. I'm able to carry more sail in higher wind with less healing and weather helm and higher pointing ability. It's like a sailing a different boat. I put a reef in ...

Re: Triton Helm Balance
Interesting observations. I sailed a similar course the day before you did. Circumnavigated Angel Island counter clockwise starting in Sausalito. The strongest wind I encountered was a couple of 25 knot gusts off Pt Blunt but a solid 15 to 20 the whole way (thanks to my new tacktick instruments). I ...

Re: Marina Etiquette
Is this acceptable to do on weekend days in a marina? I have to agree with Figment, kinda depends on where you keep your boat. I can tell you this. Where I keep my boat you would not be greeted with smiles. Most of the folks in my marina are weekenders. The last thing they want is to hear a sander ...

I designed these for my own use but check them out, http://www.cafepress.com/PearsonTriton The graphics aren't perfect. I am still working on them but they look pretty good.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here but I have to agree with Britton. This ain't rocket surgery. And in my humble opinion if you are going to own an A4 you will eventually need to have a pretty close relationship with either your mechanic or your carb. I would choose the later. By the way Rachel,...

One more thing to consider, It sounds like Moyers is suggesting that the main jet is plugged up. That is a different situation than the float sticking shut. A stuck float will completely stop the flow of fuel thus producing the condition you describe. A main jet problem will usually produce an engin...

Jim: I'm assuming you were you able to fix the problem -- did you take the carburetor apart? Yes, I took it apart. After experiencing the same symptoms you describe on several hair raising occasions. I found that if the engine is not started on a regular basis the fuel will develop a varnish betwee...

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking of trying to find clips that are similar and then grind/ bend into a usable shape and size. I'm not sure I want to put that much energy into it. Still looking though. I won't be buying another Prestolite distributor anytime soon. The guy at Moyers said they have a ...

Distributor Cap Clips
I've run into a problem trying to replace the distributor cap hold down clips on my Prestolite distributor. I checked with Moyers and Indigo. Neither have them or have a source for them. Does anyone have a source for them or has anyone come up with a good workaround? I'm thinking of wiring it down u...

Thanks for the comment
The "auto pilot" is a ForeSpar telescoping tiller extention. About $89 at West Marine. Works great for dropping sail when short handed or getting video shots from the bow. (or a quick dash below for a cold one).

Update on Hookah
For what it's worth; I bought a "Super Snorkel" compressor and regulator setup. Used it for the first time today. It was a little strange at first even as a certified diver. I'm not used to the 50 degree murky water of San Francisco bay. (that's cold in Cali) Dragging around 30 ft. of hose...

I need a Hookah
I'm shopping for a 110v dock side "hookah" style compressor and regulator setup for bottom cleaning, zinc replacement etc. If anyone has info on where I can buy one or personal experience with same I would appreciate the input.
Thanks,

Hi Bill, I had the same problem last year when I bought new sails from Doyle. After much fooling around the guys from Doyle decided to replace the new slides with the old bronze ones. There was no cost to me except I had to wait for them to do the work. It only took them a couple of hours. Good luck...

right, forward lowers, I always forget about those. I have no forward lowers, so I might be able to pull off a 115 to the inside track after all. The jumpers will always need to be worked around, but I see this primarily as a compromise of luff, not so much about sheeting angle. Yep, I think withou...

I'd be curious to see the dimensions of that 80%, if you have them handy. Sorry, I don't have the dimensions handy. I had the guys at Doyle pretty much duplicate the old sails. I had a 90 and a 115ish. The new ones are just a little smaller. I find myself constantly shortening sail or at least thin...

Thanks Lazyguy
So buy moving the guy forward does that allow the pole to rise and therefore loosen up the luff? My pole is at the top of the track and I let the outboard end rise up a little to loosen things up but things still don't look right to me. I understand the pole should be level, right?
thanks,
Jim

Out of curiosity, how do you folks have your foreguy (pole downhaul) rigged? I generally just run it to the foredeck cleat, which is great on a reach but not so convenient on a run. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I have a lot to learn.
