On occasion, it becomes necessary to lock certain topics (i.e. discussion threads) because they have degraded into irrelevant information, bickering, or other violations of basic forum protocol. The health of the forum requires that the administration lock posts from time to time to end the toxic cycle of bickering and regrettable statements from individuals who don't know when to stop. This forum is about good information and mutually agreeable sharing of opinions, which opinions are hopefully based on solid experience.
Locked threads should not be taken personally: in any argument, there are at least two sides. On the fortunately rare occasion that an individual post is inappropriate according to forum rules and protocol, the administration will delete it, not lock the thread. (Feel free to take a deleted post personally, though, because you should.)
Once a post is locked, it is done. All administration decisions are final and are taken as last resorts with the overall benefit of the board for long-term usefulness in mind. Please do not open a new thread to continue a discussion that has been recently locked, or to air your dissatisfaction with board policies.
Please review the forum rules and posting protocol from time to time to ensure your posting style fits in with the overall function of this forum. These rules exist for a reason, and they will be universally enforced as they always have been since this forum opened in 2003.
Thank you.
