Yikes...that thing weighs over 1000 lb. That's simply too heavy for consideration.

Check out the line of Vetus marine diesels. Good prices to be found at www.1800runsnew.com. I'm planning on the 11 HP 2-cyl. for the daysailor project. They also have 13 and 16 HP variations, plus a 3-cyl. 25 horse.

Tim: The 16hp model looks like a pretty nice engine for a Triton. Same weight and size (1 1/2" wider) as the 11 and 13 hp models.
Any thoughts?

I agree that the 16 would be a good fit for a Triton. Ordinarily, that's the minimim HP I would be looking at for a boat destined for possible cruising and daysailing. The 11 or 13 are just a little underpowered, I think, for well-rounded use.

I'm choosing the 11 for the Daysailor project because I feel that the boat needs the bare minimum of engine power for it's designed use. Since the boat is not intended to be cruised, ever, the engine will serve only for docking and mooring assist, and to get the boat home if the wind dies. It'll be more than adequate for that.

I'm probably going to order this engine in the next few weeks, and I look forward to seeing it in more detail.
